How long are state tax records kept in Utah?

I need to prove a common law marriage from 1973-1976. We lived in Kansas and Utah. I'm hoping these sates have records going that far back. I found out that the US government only keeps records for 10 years. I'm also trying to find school records for my daughter. Any other advice would be greatly appreciated.
