It depends on how complex your equipment is as to how you use it.
I teach screen printing to special needs adults and we have a very simple set-up although we print many complex designs with as many as twenty colours per design.
We have simple wooden frames over which we stretch the micro-fibre fabric that allows the ink to pass through as the squeegee is drawn over.
Sometimes we use liquid shellac as a stencil medium. This is cheap and easily made and stencils can be made in a series, printing as many of the issue as you need before changing the stencil.
Most times we use cheap newsprint (unprinted) as a stencil medium. It is a very simple solution to stencils and costs virtually nothing. Stencils can be very complex with fine lines and cuts made on the cutting board. Use a new stencil for every different colour.
We print aprons, cards and wall hangings, table runners, wall prints and table mats. Eventually we are hoping to print tee shirts and lamp shades.
We fix the ink using a hot iron for ten minutes at a time.
Good luck with your printing venture.
