I beleive if you ask him to leave and he doesn't then that is trespassing. You should contact the police for advice.
Call cops have him removed and have the locks changed have security on hand to remove his property do not do it by your self
Simple answer - no, he has no entitlement. Getting him out, though, may be a lot more difficult than you could imagine. I had a friend in the same situation. If your landlord is willing to work with you, see if you can stay with a friend and not pay the rent. Ask your landlord to evict him; promise the landlord you will pay for the month or two it takes to get him out. Call the local police department and see what they can do. If he is abusive - I know this sounds horrible - but if he hits you, you can get a protective order and he will be gone real fast! A lot of women unfortunately use this tactic because abusive men are extremely insecure and are afraid to be alone. So, they tempt their husbands or lovers to hit them, and getting rid of unwanted males becomes very easy. This is the most extreme solution. But it works. I am not suggesting this by any means, just letting you know about it.
If he's not on the lease you can talk to your apartment manager let the manager know that he was only supposed to say for a week or two to get back on his feet and he has stayed longer, that you would like him to leave, you don't want him on the lease with you.
They will take care of the situation for you. Since he is not on the lease he has no entitlement to the apartment.
If you don't mind him staying a little longer. tell him to pay rent and a few bills or get out. be firm and honest. tell him how you feel about the whole thing. but do it with a lot of friends with you so you have a witness's. then put everything in writing. give him a certain amount of time to move out. but if you don't want him there any more, then tell him to pack his bags and get out. if he won't leave. call the cops and have him escorted from the building. don't be one of those people on tv.
