Length of E-Book

I am planning on writing out an ebook to sale online for a profit for myself. My own problem is how long to make the book. Know this sounds bit silly, but I don't want to con people by making them buy a book which only 5-10 pages long.
What would you recommend the best length for an e-book should be? By the way, I am planning on selling it for £9.99 and it be full of information I know be great help to others.

It really depends on the type of book you are trying to write. You wouldn't want to make a children's book 300 pages, but at the same time, you wouldn't want to make a book that discusses WWII to be 10 pages.

That being said, I think that no matter what you are writing, it's important to be concise or to have tight prose so that you don't bore your readers as well as to impart useful information or make it entertaining to the reader (again, not sure what you are writing).

I would say you're probably looking to write around 150 pages - 250 pages, though there are many more factors other than page count that should be taken into consideration.

Are you going to put ads in it. I agree with ryce that it depends on the topic. 9.99 pounds is a lot so you might want to have a lot of info in the ebook and limit the amounts of ads. You might want to also consider putting helpful resources or add an added benefits like a directory of helpful company's .

An e-book can really be almost any length. As long as the whole book flows together and you get out all of the information that you want to, then it is good. You can actually write a 1 page e-book, but not many people would purchase it because of the little information. I have seen e-books that are about 20 pages, and I have seen some with over 500 pages, it is all up to how much you have to say, and how everything flows together.

The length of your book would depend on the subject you are covering. Your goal should be to completely cover your subject in comprehensive detail and provide your readers with a good value for their money. That said, there are some standards you should aim for.

Books published in ebook form are around 300 words per page and you should shoot for an absolute minimum of 50 pages. That's at least 15,000 words of information. More would be better but ebooks are typically shorter than print books so you don't really need hundreds of pages. 50 - 100 pages is fine as long as you provide valuable information that your readers need.

I'll offer a little advice as to what content to publish. A successful ebook will provide information that is new or different from anything else on the market. If you are simply re-hashing old subjects that have been around the block a few times, you probably won't find much success. Do a search for similar products related to your subject and see what's out there. Don't waste time trying to re-invent the wheel. Find a niche that hasn't been covered and go for it.

Do research, gather your information and lay it out in an easy to read and understand format. Write the book, proof read it, then re-write it. Edit it and polish it to make it as good as you can get it and only then offer it for sale. You want it to be as professionally written as you can make it. After all, you are signing your name to it and offering it up to the whole world.

Good luck!

Many people are now selling Kindle books on Amazon for 99c, I was thinking of doing that until I heard that to sell a book for 99c on Amazon they expect about 10,000 words.

I think ebooks are generally shorter than that. You should write one so that when you've sold it and publish your second books people buy it. I once bought an ebook for $30 that I thought was a waste of money, then the author brought out a second ebook and there was no way I would buy it. Write your first ebook to get repeat customers for all your future ebooks.
