Misdemeanor, Class A...What to expect

My son was given a ticket for a class a misdemeanor for posession of marijuana, less than 35 grams and also one for paraphanelia. He goes to court this next week. What can he expect to happen at that time. Apparently he was caught with these items inside the courthouse while going with a friend to court.
