Our employees get paid for Columbus Day, but instead of being closed that day, we are given the day after Thanksgiving off to cover that day.

We have an employee that works 4 days a week 10 hrs. a day (he is off on Fridays) which totals his 40 hr. week, so is he also entitled to receive an additional 8 hrs. for the day after Thanksgiving? Which would give him a total of 48 hrs. for the week. We also have bus drivers who only work 4 days a week and not on Fridays, so would they be entiltled to pay for the day after Thanksgiving since they are actually working on Columbus Day as does everyone else.

I would say he is entitled otherwise he would not be receiving benefits the other employees get. You would either pay him the 8 hours holiday in addition to his 40 hours, or give him 8 hours off at some point in the future. It would be the same situation for the bus drivers I think.
