Chest pain is the #1 reason for emergency room visits, but often they aren't heart related at all. I could be anything from heartburn (does pain happen after you eat), panic attack (accompanies by feelings or fear for no reason), Pleurisy (made worse when you inhale or cough), Sore muscles (hurts when you twist or move side to side), Gallbladder (pain would be on your right side under rib cage).

With the spasms, it sounds like it could be Esophageal spasms, but you did not mention that it was painful to swallow. This is when the muscles that move food down your esophagous are uncoordinated and can result in muscle spasms.

There are so many causes, I would defiantly see your doctor.
