I think you should have shoved her... when she said how rude, just tell her you learn your manner from people like her.

Unfortunately, we are coming out of a sociological phenomenon here. Ever heard of the "Me" generation. My generation (20's - early 30's) was taught by our parents who rebelled against the strict and somewhat violent discipline of their parents, that it was all about us and to assert ourselves even at the expense of other people.

So what can you do? Honestly, live as an example. Rudeness is contagious, but so is kindness. Raise your kids with patience and show them how you treat people.

When you see people acting rude, think about how it made the lady that works at Starbucks feel and tell her how perfect your drink was. You can't change other people, but you can make a difference with your actions - so think twice before you talk or act.

Like my dad always said, "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all".

You should ask her to step behind the counter and show you how she would make it since she must obviously make them at home so much better.

There is always the age old saying, that what you find and dislike in other people is a reflection of what you don't like in yourself.
