The average monthly payment?

I am writing a paper for school, and I wanted to know if there was a formula I could use to figure out the average monthly payment for current payers of child support. I am trying to balance the cash for clunkers money and the money for first time home buyers aganist the average money a child gets from the non custodial parent.

It depends on the state you are in and how many children you have to pay support on and your monthly income. It can range from 25% for one, 35% for two. But the best way to find out is to contact the child support office and ask. The court order ordering support payments will state how much one has to pay and that is normally until the child is 18 and graduates form High School and in some states it can be longer, thats why it is best to contact child support.

The average monthly child support payment in 2005 was $425 (based on U.S. Census Bureau data).
