Voice recording conversations?

Is it legal to record a performance review without the other party knowing?

Actually, you can get into a fair amount of trouble if you don't tell someone you are recording the conversation but it depends on jurisdiction, etc. As a rule of thumb, you should always mention ahead of time that this conversation will be recorded.

You do need to mention it, as you can get in trouble. and if you recorded something you wanted to use in court without getting a warrant for it, it will be dismissed as evidence.

also, that is why just about every company says at the beginning off the call

this call is recorded for training and quality assurance
