Volunteer Opportunities....

I am looking to volunteer somewhere, but I don't really know how to find somewhere since I'm not from here. Any ideas or sites that will help you find places to volunteer?

Where's here? There are usually tons of places that need volunteers. The best thing is to figure out what you are most passionate about. I know myself I have a lot of interests but I couldn't do everything and you want to be able to make a good contribution to wherever you are going to help out. Figure out if your biggest goal is to work towards environmental issues, children, families, veterans etc. and then search for groups in the area that work towards that cause. Also, check out street and county fairs - a lot of volunteer groups set up booths to try and draw members in and it will give you a great opportunity to speak with people already volunteering.

Theres a ton of volunteer work out there. you just have to find out exactly what kind of volunteer work you want to do. Donating food? Helping out at school? PTA? Homeless shelters? Foster care? Mission work? Disaster volunteer work?Special needs children?....theres lots of stuff to choose from. Whatever fits your schedule, just type into google or yahoo search engine and youll get plently of results,

Best thing to bo is open your local Phone book. Any Non Profit needs good volunteers. Just follow your heart when choosing one. Do you want to work with Childeren, Elderly, Less Fortunate people, Animals? I Volunteer at the local community owned Arts Center.

You can use a website like datscool said - I have used volunteermatch.com before to find an adopt-a-grandparent program.

If you think you want someone to personally help you find a good match, you can usually call your local Red Cross or United way.

If you are involved with a church, they usually offer a lot of charity opportunities as well.
