What is the average life expectancy for someone suffering from kidney cancer?

From everything I know (having lost both parents to this disease), it's pretty difficult to find kidney cancer unless it is already metastized somewhere else?

I have had kidney cancer eight years ago this April. Mine was diagnosed because of a kaput gallbladder. A cat scan was done in which the grapefruit size kidney tumor was seen. My left kidney was removed. I had no radiation or chemo at that time. It had just spread behind my kidney in the fatty part. Five years ago I was diagnosed with colon cancer. They were primary cancers not mestastized . Sorry to hear about your parents. Be vigiliant with any signs and symptoms of cancer warnings, I had traces of blood in my urine tests for years and never knew something was wrong. I did receive seven months of chemo after my colon cancer surgery. Good luck to you.
