Absolutely. Our country is worth fighting for, now more than ever. Many people believe this too that is why large movements like the Tea Party have popped up. People want to return this country to the glory that it once was when the government stayed out of our lives. That is what our men and women have fought for.

My daughter spent for years in the military, It's probably the best thing she's ever done for herself as far as finding her capabilities and limits, and her self-esteem improved considerably. As far as the country is concerned, both of us agree IT'S worth fighting (and dying) for. However, we also both agree that sometimes what we're fighting for is a totally different thing. To quote a Black Sabbath verse from War Pigs, sometimes it seems like they're "making war, just for fun".

I would be worried for my child, but its his or her decision and I would be proud of my son for fighting for our country. Our country will always be worth fighting for.

Interesting question indeed. I was in the military and love the guys and girls I was in there with. They are real people, good people. Today would I want my child to go into the Army. Well Yes, and No. I realize we need good people in the U.S Military, people who are good, with good morals. Obviously in the military you are told to follow every order without hesitation. However my children have morals, so if an order goes against the preservation of the greater benefit to mankind. They will stand up for themselves. Without this good moral base of human beings, everything would be in jeopardy of going to hell. If we allow corporate entities to build up armies that are paid great sums of money, then morals go out the window. They are doing this right now. So our Military needs good people to keep a balance.

I am not saying do not follow orders, I only broke one, in which I obviously will not talk about. It is NOT a common occurrence not to follow orders at all. This is because the higher ups in some cases have good Morals. When you remove the higher command from moral integrity you have a problem. One only has to look at Black Water for understanding of this.

The US military pays for your education through the GI bill, you make a decent amount of money. However NOT enough to sell your soul. As long as it remains (where corporate entities pay inordinate amounts of money to personal armies) we are in serious jeopardy.

So, Yes I would want my children to serve to stand up for America and human rights. However truthfully by the time my children are old enough to join, the answer would most likely be NO. America is starting to fall apart, people are more and more disgruntled with America every day. The corporations are winning their secret war. I would not have my child fight for MONEY, they will fight for Freedom for all.

Yes, America is definitely worth fighting for, and if someone's child wants to go into the Military and defend Americans from terrorism, then this wish should be honored.

I know it can be difficult for a parent to understand a child's wishes to join the Military, but if the child has always displayed a responsible attitude, and wants to join the Military for the right reasons, this decision should be accepted by the parent.

After reading some of the gooey and misspelled things I see on this web site, it was heartwarming to see that everyone who has replied so far has been enthusiastic about supporting a strong U.S. military. I would take it another step, and bring back the draft. Awful idea huh? Well what has a young man got going for him today? (I'm using a male only because it's easier here) Not everyone can afford college, or wants to go if they could. A trade school is also expensive. All that's left is to be a drug dealer or a drug user. Military duty doesn't answer all things, but it does weigh into the decision.
Is your country worth fighting for? Good question, but moot. Do you want to learn immediate Arabic? Do you think that are enemies would just leave us in harmony with God and take up knitting? Do you think we really have any friends out there, when it comes to that. Worried about your kids? It's those people in the military who keep them safe.

Oh yes, I know much about John Alexander and the interesting deeds sought out by U.S intelligence. Most people do not realize certian corporate entities were already further into such research. Accountability goes out the window with a corporation. Military exploration has all been transferred to the privatized Military industrial corporate complex. This research that went along in this movie has been studied for a very, very long time. The movie is based on real events. It was a good movie. However I am afraid real facts get evaporated out in the comedy. If people knew what was really going on here, they would be stupefied. Thanks for the award.
