If I were you, I would focus on participating anywhere I could perform to get myself and my band noticed. Is there a school talent show? Battle of the Bands sorts of things? Perform at friends birthday parties - ANYTHING! You know? Put your name out there. If you want to also try a more direct approach, create a sort of portfolio of your guys' work. Record some songs that you're comfortable with, do your best and get it on a neatly recorded medium (cd, video, etc.) and send/take it to record labels that are interested in hearing from new artists.
