Music on photo slide shows

Is it Illegal to use copyrighted music for slide shows if the client provides there own music since its there music and there pictures im just putting it together for them?
and how would you get a liscense to use copyright music? is there a liscense to cover you to use any music?

If it is for private use, you won't have to pay royalties if they own the music. If they were to sell it or make money off it, then you would have to purchase royalties.

I use a song that i bought and payed for years ago and used with my work of mods for a friend i used brown eye girls well you tube said the exille company said i had no right and they distroyed all my home movies for friends http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8FmCxffX5QU

What if the creator of the music is deceased? Do copyright laws still apply?

Yes, they still apply. Even John Lennon's work is protected by copyright. You must do a copyright search to determine who now holds the rights. Susu
