Oh sorry to hear about your situation! How sad to be close to your grandchild and then not be able to see her. Unfortunately, you have a few things working against you. First, grandparents don't have intrinsic rights to visitation as biological parents do. Second, since you are in different states you are dealing with different laws and different jurisdictions. The only chance you would have is to get a lawyer in the county where your grandchild lives because you will have to file in their because of some fairly recent laws. Give a lawyer a call (most do the first consultation free) and see what they say. Every situation has it's pitfalls and benefits. I wish you the best of luck.
I think it's so sad when parents use their children to manipulate the relationships in their lives. Is there any way to focus on repairing you and your daughter's relationship? That is always the best way.

The law has come along way for the granparents rights. You will need to contact an attorney and find out the law for granparents right in your state for they all vary. You might want to keep two things in mind. One the cost of fighting for your rights. The parent or parents being out of state. If the court allows you visitation and the parent still refuses to let you see them you will be in and out of court. Is there a way you can talk to the parents or parent that has the custody and work out a visitation. I am not sure what your relationship is to the parents if the mother of the child is your daughter then i would not think you would have this promblem if you are on good terms if it is your son then is there a reason he can't see that you see your grandchild though him?
