Lice eggs, called "Nits" adhere to the hair shaft with a gluey substance, and wrap all the way around the hair, and are slightly tear drop shaped, they don't just sit on the hair, if you can "flick" the white spot off the hair with your finger than it is dandruf, not lice. The best places to detect nits is behing the ears and the base of the neck. Remember, nits are tiny and yellowish white. Dandruff is larger and white.

Who told your daughetr, if she has head lice she would be scating like crazy and you would see the eggs when you come out her hair, and when you teat then you would need to do it again in seven days. You might consider that she may just have a dry scarp and it also causes flakes and can be treated with a shapoo called Therapeutic shapoo.
