What exactly is covered when a parent pays child support when the children are still in college

What exaclty is covered when a dad pays child support -

Te child is 20 and attends college and her car broke. Both need to pay for the repair but one parent refuses

Can the refusing parent responsability for half the debt be taken out of by the other parent who pays the child support.

The support is paid directly to the X-spouse not through probation

If the father stops paying until her share is paid off for the repair but keeps all reciepts is that legal

Well if you have an order though the court stating you are to pay support while the child is still in college your one of very few. Child support is usally until a child is 18 or until they gradurate high school. The amount of child support would of been stimpulated in the court order. The money you pay for college would go toward her college tutition. If you both as parents want to help her that is fine but it is not your responiably to do so. That includes the mother. It is not legal for you to subtract anything from the child support order. why is the support going to the ex and not the child who is of legal age?
