Are topical flea treatments safe if used more frequently then every 4 weeks.

Is it safe to apply the topical flea treatment frontline more frequently then every month. My vet suggests every 3 weeks if fleas are a problem in a climate like Fl. I worry about doing that on my cat and dog.

Yes, this is perfectly safe, we often recommend every three weeks in heavy flea areas. During the 4th week of treatment a drug 1/2 life begins, meaning the frontline is only partialy effective at that point, so using it every 3 weeks creates a crossover that allows your pet to be fully protected at all times.
