Back legs don't seem to be functional.

My 5 year old cat has stopped walking on his back legs. He drags himself across the floor. There doesn't seem to be any broken bones on damage to the legs. His appetite is still good. What could be causing him not to walk on his legs?

When your cat drags his butt across the floor it's often a problem with their anal glands. Your vet should take a look.

I had a yorkie that had this same problem. The vet said this usually happens when there is pressure on the spinal cord. In cats that jump around and for my little yorkie who jumps off the bed, they can land and injure themselves and swelling around their spinal cord will cause them not to walk. We were so worried because it sounds awful, but we went and got a $35 steroid medication and she was back to herself in a week! You do have to get to the vet though because the steroids are prescription only.
