African Greys

The birds we plan to buy are a mated pair, as the owner claims, and they are always in the nesting box.
My concern is after view some pictures of the 2 African Greys, I did noticed that the band on the leg was a split band.......................I once bought a Grey with a split band and he/she died within 6 months with a liver problem.

Should I be concern about this purchase?
