Injured chicken

I have an injured chicken. He was attacked by a bird and lost some feathers and flesh from just above his left wing. He was walking fine and seemed ok. A week later, he won't walk on his left leg and won't eat or drink unless I bring it to him. The wound is scabbed over and seems to be healing well. The leg does not seem broken, he can move it up and down, but he won't but weight on it at all, he won't even let it touch the ground. Any ideas as to what's wrong with him or how I can help him?

Sounds like an infection of some sort, if it's associated with the bite. But if the wound is healing well, it could be something all together unrelated. My advice would be to take the chicken to the vet.

Two of our hens got out of the pen, the dogs chased them by the time I made it outside on was "gone" the other had a bite under her wing, I cleaned the wound, applied topical antibiotic, and put her back in the hen house, after a week of putting food near her she started venturing out and started to eat and walked with a limp, that’s was 7 months ago , now she's our best layer, and walks fine, give them time they are tough birds.
