Cat with IBD

I would like to know if there is a good homeopathic remedy or Chinese herbal remedy to treat a 7 year old, male cat suffering from food allergies recently diagnosed with eosenophilic gastritis. He has blood in stool frequently and has developed a adversion to the litter box for defecation.

The treatment of choice for most IBD cases is prednisone which would not be the homeopathic remedy, but just in case you wanted to look it up.

Do you already have your cat on a hypoallergenic diet (i.e. lamb and rice)? Long-term dietary management will always be your best bet, although with pets sometimes it is hard to determine exactly what upsets their systems.

Eosinophilic gastroenteritis can be caused by

Parasite reactions
Allergic gastritis
Drug reaction
Foreign bodies

Assuming that everything but allergys has been ruled out, you should be using, as Jodi mentioned, a hypoallergenic diet. Some cats are even allergic to the litter in there box, you might try Yesterdays news, a litter made from recycled newspaper which has been shown to be highly non-allergenic. Here you will find a very good holistic site just for cats, they will go over the medicine and nutrition with you.
