Please!--what is wrong with this little cat?

My daughter found an abanded kitten 2 1/2 months ago, she was a tiny little thing with a damaged tail-part of it had been lost & very shy(hence the name Shya) she has gotten a lot fatter around the belly but not so much elsewhere, she is still "short" & her fur color has changed drastically! she was reddish brown( longish hair) then it started becoming lighter brown & shorter, then grayish, now her tail is almost white and the rest of her is salt and pepper, more salt then pepper. And she doesn't meow loudly either, we can hardly here her it is so quiet, it is more of a squeek. She enjoys playing with the other cats and dogs we have, has been litter box trained for the past 2 months, but suddenly now won't use the box but my sofa! I put her in the box, she jumps out runs to the sofa and pees. Is she sick? and if so with what? my vet say's she doesn't know what to think about all this.

Thank you for your anwer, but its the same litter I've been using and she used the litter box before, so I don't think its the litter--She has recently started going outside with the other cats, maybe she's a little confused and this has nothing to do with her UNUSUAL WEIGHT GAIN AND CHANGING OF FUR COLOR IN JUST 2 MONTHS--WHICH IS MY MAIN CONCERN as for squirt bottle of water I have one and use it often

How about trying a new liter box? Or maybe she has a bladder infection?
Maybe her fur is changing back to what it should be cats can turn a reddish brown when they lack Tyrosine. So maybe now that you are taking care of the cat it is turning black again but perhaps at an older age it's black is now turning white.

A few test may be in order. A check up at the vet could help determine the cause.

Thank you, for your response. I have started keeping her in an enclosed space at night with her own litter box, which has helped. as for her fur I would think a kitten of only 4 months would not be turning white, but then again who knows? Other then her BIG BELLY & WHITE FUR she seems healthy--eats well, no worms in her sh--t, urine doesn't smell strong or "bad" but I've never seen a kitten turn white before!

Well Kittens fur can change as they mature. Maybe she was always destined to be white.

Guess I'll never really know whats going on with my kitten--and the answers while appreciated don't really answer the problem, IF it is a problem, which I'm not sure if it IS a problem lol I just don't know!! In the meantime I'll love her and care for her and keep an eye out for any serious changes--thank you all for your help!!

Cat fur color and size is type of cat.. prob mix of seal point and manxx the big tummy and no fat anywhere else since you have been to a vet is also the breed of cat.... now the peeing on the sofa really sucks i know cause i went through it with my cat... first clean the sofa with a prod. called natures miracal.. it an ornge enzem cleaner can get at pet store... ONLY THING THAT GETS RID OF SMELL! then i placed books or something to block thesofa cussions when i was not around or on the sofa.... change your cat litter to the crystals that you can change once a month.... if you just keep picking up the poo the litter will not smell of anmonia ... you can prob get a good 2-3weeks out of one bag witch is a good thing cause its 15 to 24 $ a bag but so worth it,,, remember cats smell 100% better then humans... thta should help took me about three days of "no no kittie in the box" then it worked good luck..

Thank you so much Frish563! I have started blocking the sofa and chairs at night & have been keeping her in the second bathroom at night with her own box, which she has finally started using! during the day, she cries at door to go out. I'm definatly going to try that cleaner and litter too. Again thank you!
