Something wrong with our cat

We notice this morning, that our female cat, the mother of our three little cats was foaming at the mouth and dropping areas of similar or
something coming from her mouth? Would you know what might be wrong with her?

Has your cat had all her shots and does she go outside? It could be a number of things, but I would call your vet immediately. This could be serious!

Abnormal drooling happens for two major reasons:
- problems occurring inside the mouth
- problems occurring elsewhere in the body.

Examples of problems in the mouth are:
»Dental disease (broken, decayed, or abscessed teeth)
»Gum disease (periodontal disease, stomatitis)
»Oral foreign body (fish hook, fish bone, string wrapped around tongue, stick)
»Oral mass (eosinophilic granuloma, tumor)
»Oral ulcer or laceration
»Salivary gland cyst
»Bee stings

Sometimes drooling is the first and only sign of a problem.
Problems elsewhere in the body that cause drooling include:

Disorders of the esophagus, stomach, or intestines
blockage, nausea
Portosystemic shunt (a rare liver disorder)
Advanced kidney disease
Exposure to toxins or caustic chemicals
Rabies

Your cat is going need to see her vet for diagnosis and treatment.

The first thing some people think of when they see their cat foaming at the mouth is rabies. Happily, this is extremely unlikely unless a cat is unvaccinated.

Not sure. if it goes away right away, your cat should be fine.

if it is something that goes on continually over time, then maybe it might be good to take the cat to the vet and get checked out

The cat needs a vet now if she does have something she could pass it to her kittens there are several things that produce the described symptoms from toxins to diseases

Some animals get this. It is probably rabies. Is she an outdoor cat? Cuz maybe if she was she might have been protecting her kittens and the animal that may have already been affected by rabies bit her. Get it checked by the vet. Also is she irritable, cranky, or ornary?
