Can valerian be toxic to dogs?

Valerian will cause euphoria in dogs much like catnip will with a cat. Most dogs tolerate it well. Caution must be used however to ensure proper dosing to prevent overdose. As with any drug or herb - too much of a good thing can be VERY bad. Check with your veterinarian before giving your dog Valerian.
