How often should a chihuahua have a bowel movement?

We were given a chihuahua 3 days ago and I have not seen it have a bowel movement. We have been having a lot of rain so it is possible that what I mistook for mud was actually doggy stool but I don't think so. I will not ba able to take it to a vet for another 4 days. Should I be very concerned that he has not had a bowel movement?

If your dog truly hasn't gone in 3 days, I would be very concerned. However, Chihuahua's stool is very small and they have a tendency to bury it like cats. Watch your dog closely when outside, particularly after eating. If you aren't seeing any other symptoms such as bloating, belly nipping, refusal to eat or drink, or excessive drinking, or lethargy, chances are your dog is going, and you just don't see it.

This comment answers the question. It also gives symptoms to look for so that I will know if I need to take my dog to the vet immediately.
