Is it okay to give a dog a stick of celery?

I know some veggies like carrots are good for dogs but what about celery?

Yes, but ONLY if you string it first, as the strings can cause intestinal blockage in dogs, we don't know exactly why this happens, but we assume it is because dogs pass food through their intestines much quicker than humans and so the string remains a hard ball and doesn't soften from stomach juices.

P.S. there is little to no nutrients in celery so use only small amounts so they still eat the good stuff ;-)

Sure you can runner, and a good bland diet for recovering dogs is boiled chicken, lamb, or beef, rice and frozen mixed veggies.

Ahh I was chopping up some veggies for the week and had given her a baby carrot, but she seemed like she really wanted to try a piece of celery. I didn't give it to her, and after reading this I see there is no real beniefits and its a pain to destring or make sure she is okay with it.

I'll stick with the carrots. and leave the celery out of her diet.

Thanks for the info.
