I left my JRT with my parents while I was deployed, and while I am redeploying in a couple month...the 8 months that she has been with the she has gain substancial weight; noticed also by the vet when took her in for her annual shots and check up. She was put on diet food...unfortunately my parents have been feeding her human food, because they where unble to get her to eat when I left for the gulf...she refuses to eat dog food and I am at a loss of how to get her back on dog food/ especially her diet food.

Try by begining to feed it to her a bit from your hand as you place it in the bowl. Unfortunatly, the best advice that can be given is she will eat when she gets hungry enough. By giving in to her will and feeding her people food when you feel sorry for her, you are letting her rule you. If she refuses her food for a full 24 hours, mix a bit of gravy in (a tablespoon is plenty) and reduce the amount each feeding. Oh, and give a good effort at pretending to eat the food and "like it" before you give it to her.
