Maybe she's just shedding and the itching is from fleas

I see the responses below and some could be possibilities. I am a certified vet tech and have seen such instances. There are many possiblities. Allergies are a big possiblilty as well as the mites as posted below, although if she is healthy and over the age of two, that is less likely. Ringworm is also seen in dogs and usually is transmitted by a cat. Patches of hair loss, itching and red or pink skin could present like ringworm. The vet needs to do a DTM (dermatophyte) culture. It usually takes 14 days to read but positive results usually are apparent after 4-7 days. Skin scraping for mites is a good idea and usually goes hand in hand with the DTM Cultures. Please do not try to give or bath her in anything until you see a vet. You could cause an accidental secondary bacterial infection which is painful and costly to clear up. Go straight to the professional if seeking a diagnosis, your vet is the only person qualified to give you an answer. Good luck!
