Sounds like your kitty has Conjunctivitis which is just like red eye. If you have other cat, separate this cat from them as this is VERY contagious. All it is in an inflammation of the lining around the eyeball. But don't worry feline conjunctivitis can not be given to other dogs, birds or human - just other cats.

Symptoms usually include squinting and a discharge that can be clear, grey, yellow, green or a rusty dark red color that looks like blood, but isn't.

You can go to your vet and get a topical ointment that will clear the eye right up. Be sure to wash your hands between each treatment and don't let the tip of the ointment bottle come in contact with the cats eye or you could keep giving it to her.

Good luck!
