"My African Grey is not eating normally!"

We temporaily moved to a different home ( my son's) where our grey had lived for 3 years prior to moving in with me 2 years ago! Now Wally is not eating regularly nor will he go to the bottom of the cage to get food that dropped? Not sure what is going on. He is still very talkative and active otherwise!

A healthy parrot can deal with a bit of stress, and this is certainly a stress situation for your bird. You need to start by weighing your bird. An infant scale is best. Weigh him everyday for the next week, if he loses so much as an ounce, that is a lot for a bird and he should be seen by your vet. In the mean time, replace your birds food, as the food you are using now may have become contaminated, or become stale. Offer plenty of fruits and veggies and give him lots of attention. This situation usally resolves itself in a week or two. If your bird develops any other symptoms, such as loose stool, feather picking, excessive vocalization, or sitting on the bottom of his cage, please see your vet immediatly.
