We Are about to recieve a seven year old African Grey Parrot.

My wifes sister is giving us her African Grey parrot of after seven years, I want to know if we will have trouble with home sickness, changing his name, and teaching him a new way of living. It is just the two of us, no childern, no other pets, and we both work 9to5 jobs, could somone please give us some pointers in this upcomimg situation, Buddy the African Grey parrot will be leaving a home of one adult, one child aged two, and a dog that hasbeen his thorn for the last five years. Buddy hasbeen thier for seven years and seems quite comfortable even though Buddy and the dog fights alot, and has for the past four years, Could this work, my wife and i love Buddy but are very concerned if this could hinder him in any way.
