WHY WILL MY GOAT WILL NOT STAND UP?

SHE HAD A BABY ABOUT 1 1/2 YEARS AGO. SHE EATS GOOD AND HAS PLENTY OF WATER TO DRINK BUT I CANNOT GET HER TO GET UP. SHE HAS A STALL OF HER OWN SO THE OTHER GOATS CANNOT GET TO HER. I CHECKED ON HER LAST NIGHT AND SHE WAS ON HER SIDE. SHE REALLY SCARED ME. I WENT IN TO CHECK ON HER BUT SHE DID NOT WANT TO GET. HER STOOLS HAVE CHANGE TO A SOFT AND CLUMPY. I HAD GIVEN HER SOME WORM MEDICINE ABOUT A MONTH AG0. HER SIDES WERE VERY PUFFED OUT BUT, NOW ARE NOT AS BIG AS THEY SEEMED. MY NEIGHBOR WAS POSITIVE THAT SHE HAD WORMS. AFER A FEW WEEKS SHE SEEMED JUST FINE. THEN I WENT OUT ABOUT 3-4 DAYS AND THER SHE SITTING ON HER STOMACH WITH ALL FOUR LEGS FOLDED UNDER HER. SHE IS NOT AS PUFFED UP AS SHE ONCE WAS. DO GOATS LAY DOWN ON THEIR SIDES WHEN THEY SLEEP? I HAVE TO PULL HER UP BUT

Many things can cause this, and you should call out your vet asap, but the one I would worry about from the symptoms you described is Blackleg (Clostridial Myositis) - caused by the soil-borne bacterium, Clostridium chauvei. The disease develops rapidly in affected animals and often deaths occur before the owner has noticed any sickness in the herd. Often no symptoms are observed; At other times, high fever, lack of appetite, depression, lameness, swelled head, and swellings that appear in the muscles on various parts of the body. Sometimes the leg muscles are involved, or the muscles in the region of the back, hip, flank, chest or shoulder. In the latter stage of the disease, these swellings spread and become quite mushy, producing a characteristic crackling sound when pressed with the hand.
