During Bush's tenure, Republicans did little more than rubber-stamp Bush's domestic and international agenda because lawmakers were intimidated by his power and his popularity with the Republican base.
I don't blame George Bush for everything that happened up to the end of his term - many of the economic policies that allowed for the economic downturn were due in part to decisions made during President Clinton's term in office, and some stretched back further, while other problems occurred because the lack of regulation in the lending industry.
I do consider the Bush administration responsible for much of the anger and resentment that the world feels toward the United States and some of the trashing the administration did with privacy laws, those seem to have cast a pallor on the administration from which it will not likely recover.
Not that George Bush is responsible for the lack of leadership the Republicans now face, but he did have a way with croney-ism that was rife with finger pointing when things didn't quite go the way of the conservatives, which may have led to their current headless state.
Yes he deserve blamed for Iraq and Afghanistan war
I think he has some fault in the matter, however I don't blame him for everything. I think he did what he thought was right and there was some consequences.
PEOPLE! GONGRESS has control of the budget and all writes all laws. The president merely yeahs or neahs........The problem is not in the white house. It's in capitol hill.
Jealousy creates contempt. That's the mood of other nations. Those who feel guilty about our greatness and goodness have perpetually lied to us about the resentment
I do not feel George Bush is all to blame. He did what he thought was right for our country. I respect a leader that will stand behind his decisions even if it is unpopular. While other political figure heads where trying to rewrite history on voting for a situation just because it was what polls suggested American people wanted it, our Commander in Chief never side stepped his choices even when his popularity rating fell off. Debt was incurred from our war, police and security obligations in response to the threat placed on American soil by terrorists, but the impact of this spending was not detrimental to our society as a whole. The debt incurred was an investment on behalf of our Country's security. Helping to substain democracy not only on our home soil but worldwide.
Our economic despair does not just lie in the hands of George W Bush. Equal responsibility which is being generous shall lie in the hands of Bill Clinton for his lax supervisory skills over our County during both his terms in office. People want to believe the smoke and mirrors our media tried to force feed us about Bill Clinton and his two terms. People need to realize you can not believe everything that is reported. The media no longer reports consistent facts, but they stream a story to their viewers that is based on opinion about a subject that they are obviously compassionate about.
Bill Clinton will never been an idolized President and as times goes by, people will wipe the media smug from their eyes and they will come to realize he actually did more harm then good while in office. The success of his Presidency was not his doing, but the mere fact of being at the right place at the right time. Our economy would have improved with or without him in office for the simple fact he got his foot in office right as the Dot com boom showed it pretty face. Pure luck!
How many terms later and we are finally getting the opportunity to see how he advanced our economy into a depression. Our banks no longer work for the people, but in actuality they scam and the cheat the system while getting approval to invest our money with no limitations. The limitations were wiped away by a President most find charming. The banks were given free Raine of most aspect of the investing and profiting portfolio. If an institution is granted the ability to write its own policies and procedures then it is obvious it will take advantage of making it's business profitable.
The banks had no regulation on lending. The Government at the time was more interested in having the financial institutions in their corner, then implementing guidelines for the banks to follow.
The banks knowingly loaned money to those desperately wanting to purchase a home of there own, but was just financially out of reach. It was a win win situation for the banks since the economy was doing well and the loans given to those who were not eligible at one time were based on an interest only payment system.
Once the recipient defaulted on the loan the house went into foreclosure and back into the hands of the financial institution. In the mean time the borrower paid thousands of dollars into a piece of property that was straight profit for the bank since the amount paid over the load was interest only. The bank in turn puts the house back on the market selling it at the going rate. The financial institution comes out better invested then when the loan was originally signed. Banks did not hesitate to give out junk loans since it had a criteria on who was able to qualify for its interest only loans. Excepting signers with poor credit and or negative debt to credit ratio guarantees the loan will go into default. Allowing the banks to profit numerous times on an investment they only made once. The regulations should have been set in place to protect the borrower not the lender. Financial devastation was implemented on those who blindly trusted an institution who's sole background was based on wise money management. People have finally come to realize the banks do not care who's financial future they destroy in there race for wealth.
A little implementation of rules set forth by our Commander in Chief would have saved us so much financial despair. Our Present day leader has followed right along picking up what ever pieces were left behind and personally handing they to each financial institution with not only a smile but also a guarantee they come first. Instead of representing the American people when in need he seems to fall back on taking care of his political interests. First resort was to bail out an institution that corrupted not only our economy but our countries financial stability. Another round of profits were handed to these institutions by our Government to pay off junk loans that were merely invented to quench its own greed for profit.
Record profits were not a thing of the past once a bailout was implemented. Patterns will repeat themselves if a lesson is not learned. If Government chooses institution over its own delegates it ratifies the fact that the American people are better off representing themselves. An elected official is put in place to represent ones voice while implementing a strong moral structure. Our current debt will be carried as a burden by future generations without the satisfaction of input. A expensive fix turned into a leaking patch once a bailout was implemented. The distribution of money was mismanaged before the bill was even on paper. If ones best interest was that of the American people distribution of funds would have been filtered to those you speak for.
One term was enough to throw away everything American stood for. No hope in the Americans eyes of recovering from this recession or depression. Our Govern officials are expanding their own power without input or permission of the American people. It is immoral and goes against what our country was built on. Our democratic loyalties do not support our Governments decision in any way when they purchased partial stake in our financial institutions along with the auto industry and our medical industry. It is easy to see where ones loyaltly lies, his hard work and investment to our country is not trying to improving our financial future or make the citizens proud to be an American his efforts while President is apparent! His loyalty is to himself and wanting to so desperately change our country from the land of the free and the home of the brave to a governed society of socialism where his word is truth.
Jeez JamesGirl Have you contacted a publisher for that novel you wrote on here?
I blame him for a coupe of things, but they were major errors. The deregulated banks brought about the downfall of the banks, the home foreclosures, and then, the propping up of the banks which cost our country billions of dollars. I also blame him for the bad image our country had while he was President. He did not represent our country well. The 2 wars we got into are his doing. Many people have been killed in those wars and they are not all Americans. Also, the blunders he made like going on a ship and announcing the end of the Iraq War prematurely, and his massaging of the Chancellor of Germany at a World Summit were the blunders of a joker who would have flunked out of Yale if his family had not owned part of it. He did make his mistakes.
Two wars he got us into?
Remember that congress approved of all his actions.
Prop up the banks? Caused forclosures?
BARNEY FRANK and CHRIS DODD did that.
So did Jimmy Carters policies about home loans and debt to income rules being changed to create bad loans to folks who could not afford them.
