Liberals believe it's the nation's job to protect citizens from physical harm like crime disease and hunger. If we have a nation of people who don't even have physical wellbeing then our nation cannot enjoy the benefits of the freedom we are so lucky to have. Liberals believe in affordable healthcare for EVERYONE - we are one of the only developed nations where people have to choose to pay rent or take a sick child to the doctor. Liberals believe in making food, shelter and services available for people not as a handout, but in conjunction with advice and help so it's just a stepping stone towards being healthy, happy and self-reliant.

We believe that it is everyone's responsibility to help people in less fortunate situations better themselves, because the more self-reliant people we have enjoying everything America has to offer, the better the economy, military, healthcare, crime rates and so on and so forth. That's why we tend to approve and fund more social programs and focus on lower and middle classes and strive for better human rights for everyone.
