Will Hussein, Baracks middle name will be detrimental to his bid for the Whitehouse.

Maybe it did not effect the Democratic nomination because the Clinton campaign did not use it to there advantage.
What if the Republican party ran an ad that just stated something like this "Barack Hussein Obama". Do you think that the majority of the Democratic vote even knows his middle name. What if they associated his name(s) with terrorism such as: Obama with Osama and
Hussein with Saddam Hussein. Would there be a landslide victory for the Republican party.

There has been enough publicity about it already and lots of people know the middle name. As apathetic as I believe most American voters are, I don't believe they are "stupid." Associations like the ones you suggest might be possible in more backward countries but (and probably unfortunately), this contest will probably boil down to a racial contest, not a name contest.

I think for many uneducated voters a name could sway them, but I hope that the majority of voters actually care about issues and political stance and would vote based on this. After all we aren't electing a prom queen, so we can't base our votes on childish factors. That's why you have to be 18 to vote - hopefully people have outgrown that sort of immature decision making.
