Home repairs

Home is 10 years old. In changing the windows, it was just discomvered the plywood outside sheeting was not wrapped nor insulated. before the siding was installed. Neither was any insulation placed around the windows. Bluilder claims city passed it and he no longer has any responsibility . Cost was over $5000. One city attorney tells me the time factory for repairs is two years from the time of discovery. This is Idaho Falls, ID. Any suggestions. Thank you.

It looks like you are out of luck. I hired a siding company once. They were going to do the work while I was out. However, I just happened to come home when they were doing it, and no insulation was being put up! I fired them on the spot and complained until I got my deposit back. You can try, but after 10 years..................It's not right, but it's legal.

I was just thinking.........you could try fighting this, if you still have the paperwork, and proof of no insulation. Now, where I live, when a person is having a hard time with a company, there is a local news station they can contact, who will advocate for the person. Companies don't want bad press, so they usually capitulate. Whether they do or don't, it gets on the news, and, like I said, they would lose a lot of business. Try that. If you a fighter, you just never give up.
