Seller backing out of escrow

I am the seller in California. I accepted an offer on my home and signed a purchase agreement/contract. $20K deposit was given from the buyer and an escrow number has been assigned. No escrow or title papers have been completed. 7 days have passed and I have since changed my mind and wish to cancel the deal. Buyer is threatening to sue and force the completion of the sale. Do they have any damages? They are renting their current home in the near future. Can I lose my home? How much money and time am I looking at with a lawsuit and legal fees?
