Starting a company that will eventually over services surrounding Real Estate (i.e. investing, landscaping, decorating, property management)

I was told by a friend of mine who has his own company that I should file as a holdings corporation. I would like to know if the word "Holdings" needs to be in my name when I file the paperwork or not? Also, is this the correct thing to do?
