Ez-go engine oil (medalist 1994)

I have a 1994 ez-go cart medalist , it has never smoked out exhaust . I just changed eng. oil filter and put 2 qrts. of 5-30 oil. now eng smokes out of exhaust muffler. wrong oil ? did I do somethiing wrong? help?
