I am the director of a youth group that is the recreation provider for the city I live in. We presently take care of 75% of the public park which consist of 7 baseball fields, 3 soccer field and in the process of building a football field. The city attorney is telling me that they cannot provide me with funding because we are a private entity. We are a 501 C 3 and have been since 1991 or 92. According to the IRS there are three (3) classification and I believe we fall into the classification of a public charity, indentified by the IRS as "not a private foundation." Can you help me clear this up?
