For my grandma we though a hawian laou (i think thats how it's spelled) she was in her 80's it's not expensive to setup as long as you have space, setup a burn pit you can get a cd of music for it for about 10 bucks the decorations for maybe another 20 or so. you can get recipies from the link below for hawiian food, with some work themed parties really do shine well, plus it leads into activities for the younger people to do like limbo ect. sometimes older people not being able move as much as they used to like to see other people enjoying themselves but do have something for the older people to do as well.
This Hawaiian Luau party game is more of a fun pastime than an actual game, but the guests will have a great time playing it. Depending on how old most of your guests are at the party you can make this game more or less risqué and it can also be made a little competitive if you give an award for the most artistic Hawaiian Luau body art.
Get the guests into groups of three and paint Hawaiian Luau themed pictures on each other’s body. The guests can paint anywhere as long as their painting buddies agree. You’ll also need body paints or face crayons, brushes and some water for these Hawaiian Luau party games. Spread out some newspapers to keep paint from coloring the carpet.

My grandma had a 90th birthday party too. She invited all of her relatives on her side of the family, which is very many! A theme. . .hmm. . . What ever suits you. Like, what represents you. If you represent something like an eagle because they fly, and they are free like spirits, you could choose that. Check your horoscope and it may help you to find what you represent.
Is there anything that she really had a passion for when she was younger? Or you could always do it sort of like a trip down memory lane. If you have enough fun loving people who are willing, perhaps you could put on a mock version of the Ed Sullivan show or something that she is familiar with, maybe even a John Wayne movie.
If her family is involved in it I know she will love it
A this is your life theme is always popular and you will learn some really interesting things about this person and your ancestors
And for something more low key, I know my Grandma has always liked playing Dominoes and Yatzee, so maybe a game night would be fun
Keep us posted this sounds like a blast!
