Hobbies are a great way of doing that. Find something you like and do it. You will have less stress, be more happy and proud of yourself. If you can a group to practice this activity it's better. You will build up each others self-respect and self-confidence. Be proud of what you are doing and have fun. Help others, give them true and positive comments about what they are doing. It's a slow process at start but you should see improvement quickly.
Learn to dance or cook, making paints or go walk with some people each day.
