That gets very complicated because in a divorce hearing, he would have the option to "buy you out" or give you your investment and 1/2 of the equity, but you may have to take him to claims court to have the ordered since you were never married.

This was a recent problem that my daughter went through also. For you to get your share of the equity of the house you will need to hire an attorney and take your ex-boyfriend to court. The judge can make a decision as to the selling off of the property in which your ex-boyfriend will be forced to sell it even if he wants to keep it or the judge can rule in your ex-boyfriends favor but your ex-boyfriend will have to pay you out of his pocket expense, your half of the equity that is entitled to you. Another issue that will be brought up in court is the question of contents of said property. You will need reciepts to show what possesions in the home are yours to show in court who owns what. Good luck to you!

Are you married? or just living together as bf/gf?

it does get tricky since you were never actually married. you would have to agree on it, otherwise, you'd have to take him to claims court over it.
