My friend has asked me to write her a character reference letter, as he mother is attempting to gain guradianship of her children?

She was barely a mother to my friend, has anyone any hints pr tips of what to put in this? Do I mention anyone other than my friend? Do I make references to her mother? I have no idea where to start!

Start it off by stating you
"have been ask to comment on the character of (name) regarding the guardianship attempt by (name). Since I have known (your friend) I have never seen her have any interaction with (her mom's name) regarding (child's name) I can state that (your friend) is a level headed individual of good character and holds herself to a high moral value.......
Of course if you have witnessed mom coming at your friend or start arguments, drink in public, etc youcan lsit that but only to the point of how your friend reacted to these situations. The basic idea is too make your friend a saint among saints. Of course if you've seen her do stupid things with the child like no car seat, drunken parties near the child or dangle the child from a hotel balconey, you obligated to state that also.
