If i bought a house before i was married

Well i am going threw a divorce and i do not have a lawyer and cant afford one so i am represinting my self i bought my house 6 months before i was married is she intitled to the house or equity or tax value

It can depend on the state and how long you were married, but yes in many cases, she is entitled to 1/2 of everything that was owed between you both.

Are "community property" states, meaning that anything you own your wife owns by marriage, but since you are not in a community state you have more of a chance of keeping the house. Did you have children? Did she work or make payments towards the house?

There are so many factors to consider it's really hard to say, but all I can say if that you have a better chance of keeping the house since you aren't in any of the states listed above.

Is she on the house title or anything?

if not, then you probably don't have to split it. if her name was on it, diff story
