Well, do you want to back out with him/her? If he/she broke up with you, it's best if you leave him/her alone. They may not want to go back out. If you broke up, they may have been upset. So you might want to be slow about it. But then they also may not want to see you anymore, but it really depends if he/she broke up with you or vice versa.

I think that if your ex wanted you back, you would know about it. You can hint around by saying "I miss you" or something & see what happens, but you can't force the other person to feel something that they don't.

Wouldn't you rather be with someone who wants to be with you?

My ex got me back simply by waiting and being patient. He let me know that he wanted to get back together, but I wasn't interested since I was with someone else at the time. He was politely persistent, not pushy at all, but called and texted casually several times a week just to keep in touch. He didn't see other people, and was always there for me. It only took 2 months for me to realize he was the one I wanted to be with, and I left my new relationship to go back to him.
