My friend is having a birthday party and I really want to go but there is going to be boys to and I would feel weird. What should I do?

It is a pool party so I would really feel weird with boys there! I am not aloud to bring anyone with me. I have considered sending her a gift in the mail, is that a good idea? Remember I really want to go!

If you really want to go you need to decide whether you can put up with being uncomfortable because boys are there. Why don't you dress conservatively and at least go to deliver your gift in person and see how you feel while you're there. Everything might turn out to be OK. If not, you can always excuse yourself to leave early. Just make sure you have someone you can call for a ride home on short notice. If the thought of being around "boys" distresses you that much, it is perfectly acceptable to mail your gift or give it to your friend at some other time.

I am wondering why you would feel weird? If your friend asked you to go, it is because she really wants you there. If you are self-conscious about how you look in a bathing suit, ask your mom to take you to buy a cute t-shirt to go over your bathing suit to swim. Something with a Hawaiian print would be cute. Then maybe do your hair up with a flower in it so that you have a cute theme going. Besides, who cares what boys think anyway? Tell your friend that you are afraid to go, and if a lot of these boys are people you don't know then you can tell her that the reason you are afraid is because there will be alot of people you don't know. You don't have to say "boys". Besides, if you don't know them, then what are the chances you will ever see any of them again? I really hope you go and have a good time. Have fun, Susu

There is nothing wrong with sending a gift. If you really want to go then go. You don't have to join in at the pool as far as going swimming. You just relax and visit. You need to be comforiable to go. So just take some time and think about this. I believe you will be fine in what ever decition you make, your friend will understand.
