Having two boys 8 and 10, it's not easy. They love video games though not everyone wants to buy them for their kids - thinks like a PSP or game boy. Does he like music? If so, a MP3 player loaded with some cool music he likes will work. Archery sets are fun - though not always practical. Autographed photos for his room of his sport idol are cool - but he can't play with them. How about one of your old leather jackets? My oldest loves mine. Just my thoughts.

B-Day Present for 10 year old BOY
My son will be 10. He won't tell me what he want's, just says "I dunno, a motorcycle" and smiles knowing it won't happen.
He's a total jock, sports, motocross, bla bla bla. But I don't want to get him gear. I want to shock him that I (an unjock - former goth/punk - tatooed up - totally out of it mom) can get him a kick a$$ gift without being told....
Any ideas?

I ended up getting him a bunch of gear for his paintball gun. I also gave in and got him a cell phone that he's been begging for for a while. Figure he's earned some more freedom.

So... my neighbor is a pro-BMX'er and stuff. He made us this amazing deal on a dirtbike. I got it for my boy as a early X-Mas present. He hasn't touched any of his b-day stuff since (or his playstation). LOL. He is also doing his chores (plus more) religiously since dad told him that chores and helping me out determined how much he gets to ride. It's awesome!
